Project 365
2025 - Issue #29
I love a good Downtown Main Street! The town I live in unfortunately doesn’t have one, so we often find ourselves strolling around the city of Ventura. Ventura is a small coastal city just north of us. To me, it has the best of everything: Beaches, a city feel with a downtown area and mountains with hiking trails. On this particular day, Main Street was buzzing!
We often see small bands or solo performers on the streets, but this was the first time coming across an entire orchestra!
A few years ago the city added some photo props for “Instagramable moments”. I don’t usually photograph those, but I do like how the heart fits in the square frame on this one. Still not posting on Insta, though.
We’ve been to Ventura countless times, and yet there always seems to be something new to find. In this case, we stumbled upon an old building that had art studios upstairs. As we checked out all the art I noticed the old, leaded windows with a view of Main Street.
And then, we found this guy:
He was extremely focused on playing his music box. His expression and posture never changed.
Not even as these little girls became enthralled with his music machine.
And I end the roll back home at a nearby park.
All photos shot on Kodak Tri-X 400.
“The marvels of daily life are exciting; no movie director can arrange the unexpected that you find in the street.”
-Robert Doisneau

A lovely set of images Alicia - I love the dappled light in that last image!
