I say YES to your approach — it IS and sounds so freeing! I love all these shots but the van opener is my favorite. Clean and punchy.

Haha! Thanks for your support!

I immediately thought about Punch Drunk Love with the parking lot piano photos. That first one in particular is so so good.

Thanks! It was a bit surreal to see it on its side like that.

Nice series, Alicia. The Ford looks both cool and very odd. I like Portra, too. Have you tried the 800 version? I've used it in my Holga 120N and that combo produces its own colour palette. That air machine shot is a great example of "Pareidolia".

There are a lot of very old and very cool cars in Southern California.

And yes, I have tried Portra 800. That’s my favorite of the Portra’s although I haven’t shot it in a while.

Pareidolia, good word! I had to look that one up! Thanks for adding to my vocabulary.

There's some great images here, Alicia. That Ford is very cool, the air machine is definitely gasping, the piano was an interesting find and I love the free chair. The colour tones of the Portra are really nice.

Thank you, Mark! I love the way Portra renders color.

That’s an oil refinery which isn’t great but makes for interesting photos.

I didn't notice the machine gasping until you pointed it out - now I can't unsee it 😂 Love the free chair under the flowering trees!

I was actually photographing something else when I turned around and saw the air machine gasping. I thought it was pretty funny. 😆 And I can’t ever resist photographing random chairs!
