Everyday delights
I live in a suburban town in Southern California. I’m an hour north of Los Angeles, an hour South of Santa Barbara and twenty minutes east of Malibu. I’m surrounded by beautiful mountain ranges, rolling hills, gorgeous beaches and pastoral farm land. I know I’m very fortunate to live where I do, and still it is possible to find this place boring. How often have I thought to myself that I would have an endless supply of photo-worthy scenes if I lived in a big city? But the truth is, I’m not a big city photographer. I’m not a street photographer. I’m a photographer of the every day.
Capturing every day moments - the mundane - is following in the footsteps of Stephen Shore, Todd Hido and William Eggleston. Those are not bad mentors, are they?!
So please enjoy these moments from suburbia.
All images shot on Kodak Gold 200.
The moment one gives close attention to anything, even a blade of grass it becomes a mysterious, awesome, indescribably magnificent world in itself. - Henry Miller

There's something really amazing about "Tires" - that's just such a cool shot.
Great images, Alicia. I really like the phrase, “I am a photographer of the every day.”
